Marseille's Rod Fanni clenches his fist in delight

Olympique de Marseille leapfrogged Olympique Lyonnais into second place in Ligue 1 after Rod Fanni's added-time goal secured a 1-0 home win against Valenciennes FC.

With leaders Paris Saint-Germain FC and Lyon in action on Sunday, OM had the chance to put pressure on the pair with victory over Daniel Sanchez's side at the Stade Vélodrome. Despite dominating possession and earning 11 corners, it took the hosts until the 94th minute to break their stubborn opponents, Fanni beating Gaël Danic to Jérémy Morel's delivery.

In the pick of the day's late fixtures, in-form OGC Nice moved fourth, four points shy of OM, with a 1-0 triumph at SC Bastia. The 16-year-old Neal Maupay's goal midway through the second half secured Claude Puel's side their fourth win in their sixth league game of 2013.

The division's bottom team, AS Nancy-Lorraine, lost by the same score at mid-table Montpellier Hérault SC and 19th-placed ES Troyes AC came away from Toulouse FC with a point – despite being 2-0 up with seven minutes left.

Elsewhere, Stade Brestois 29 drew 1-1 with AC Ajaccio and FC Lorient overcame Évian Thonon Gaillard FC 2-1. On Friday, LOSC Lille beat Stade Rennais FC 2-0 courtesy of a Chris Mavinga own goal and a Dimitri Payet effort.
