He was a member of the UEFA Medical Committee from 1990 to 2002, and a member of the Amical des Anciens circle of former UEFA committee members in the subsequent years. Born in Rome, Professor Perugia was a passionate sports follower with professional links to AS Roma, and headed the medical sector of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC).
