Defeated Lyon, OM lose ground on PSG

Adrian Mutu celebrates finding the net against Lyon

Olympique Lyonnais were unable to move back level with Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain FC as Adrian Mutu scored twice in a surprise 3-1 win for AC Ajaccio in Corsica.

PSG moved clear at the top thanks to a 4-0 defeat of Toulouse FC on Friday, and Rémi Garde's men must have been hopeful of rejoining them when Alexandre Lacazette volleyed in a Rachid Ghezzal cross after 53 minutes. Chahir Belghazouani fired Ajaccio level with a low effort just moments later, however, and he also contributed to the move that ended with Mutu diving to nod the Corsican club ahead on 65 minutes.

Bafétimbi Gomis had a penalty saved by Guillermo Ochoa with just three minutes to go as Lyon looked to level, but it was the hosts who went on to enjoy the final word. Dejan Lovren was dismissed for bringing down Dennis Oliech and Mutu registered from the spot in added time.

Three points further back are third-placed Olympique de Marseille, who also fell to a surprise defeat, going down 1-0 at home against AS Nancy-Lorraine. Joey Barton was sent off on the hour mark for a second bookable offence, before an André Ayew own goal sealed their fate. In Sunday's other match, Montpellier Hérault SC saw off third-bottom Stade de Reims 3-1.
