AFC Ajax have confirmed the capture of forward Isaac Cuenca on loan from FC Barcelona for the remainder of the season.

Cuenca, who made his Barcelona debut last term as one of 16 top-flight appearances, is yet to feature for the Liga leaders in this campaign. However, the Spanish Under-21 international signed a new contract with the Azulgrana at the weekend, committing his future to the Camp Nou until summer 2015.

Ajax, who finished ahead of English title holders Manchester City FC in UEFA Champions League Group D, face FC Steaua Bucureşti in the UEFA Europa League round of 32. The first leg takes place at the Amsterdam ArenA – venue for May's final – on 14 February.
