Paris Saint-Germain FC players celebrate following a LOSC own-goal

Paris Saint-Germain FC have returned to the top of Ligue 1 following a slender 1-0 win at home against LOSC Lille.

With Dimitri Payet afforded plenty of space and attacking left-back Lucas Digne providing a wealth of dangerous crosses, LOSC threatened frequently during the first period. It was PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimović who came the closest to scoring, however, thumping an effort against the base of the left upright.

The breakthrough eventually arrived midway through the second half, and in bizarre fashion too. Ezequiel Lavezzi's cross was spilled by LOSC goalkeeper Steeve Elana, and the ball bounced off his team-mate Aurélien Chedjou and over the line. Túlio De Melo hit the inside of a post at the other end, but PSG held on to move ahead of Olympique Lyonnais on goal difference.

Elsewhere, Henri Saivet's powerful finish earned FC Girondins de Bordeaux a 1-0 victory at OGC Nice, enabling Francis Gillot's side to take fifth place from their opponents on goal difference.

A point further back in seventh are AS Saint-Étienne following their emphatic 3-0 defeat of SC Bastia. Brandão gave the hosts a ninth-minute lead, which was added to by goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Joshua Guilavogui late on.
