Lazio post comfortable Udinese victory

Tuesday 27 November 2012 22.50 CET
Miroslav Klose is mobbed by his team-mates after extending Lazio's lead

S.S. Lazio recorded a comfortable 3-0 success at home to Udinese Calcio, whose winless run now stands at five Serie A matches.

The hosts could have been ahead as early as the 12th minute but Cristian Ledesma was thwarted from the spot by Udinese goalkeeper Željko Brkić. The midfielder was given a reprieve five minutes later, however, Álvaro González taking receipt of Stefano Mauri's incisive pass before producing an unerring finish. Mauri was the architect again just after the half-hour mark, feeding the predatory instincts of Miroslav Klose, who made it two.

Lazio showed no signs of letting up the pressure after the interval and playmaker Hernanes completed the formalities by curling in a sumptuous free-kick. Vladimir Petković's fifth-placed side have the opportunity to continue their fine home form – five matches without defeat – when they entertain Parma FC on Sunday; Udinese, in 12th position, welcome Cagliari Calcio next.
