Jordan Ayew celebrates his goal for Marseille with Rod Fanni

Olympique de Marseille moved level on points alongside Paris Saint-Germain FC at the top of the Ligue 1 table after recording a 1-0 home win against LOSC Lille, on a day when Olympique Lyonnais and FC Girondins de Bordeaux both lost.

Marseille and Lille both enjoyed chances in a bright first half, but the momentum changed when the visitors lost Florent Balmont to a red card for bringing down Mathieu Valbuena on the stroke of half-time. OM came out in determined mood after the interval and took the lead almost instantly as Jordan Ayew headed in a Valbuena cross to send his side second on goal difference, with a game in hand.

One point back, Lyon missed the chance to return to the summit as they succumbed to a 3-0 loss at Toulouse FC. The hosts dominated the opening period and finally got their reward five minutes after the restart when Wissam Ben Yedder headed in a Franck Tabanou cross. The same player then added a second three minutes from the end and Etienne Capoue rounded things off in added time.

The victory lifted Toulouse to seventh, three places behind Lyon and two shy of FC Girondins de Bordeaux, who also spurned the opportunity to hit the top in their 1-0 defeat at Montpellier Hérault SC. Rémy Cabella struck the only goal of the game for the 12th-placed champions.
