Juventus frustrated by magnificent Marchetti

Saturday 17 November 2012 23.05 CET
Lazio's Federico Marchetti celebrates his clean sheet against Juventus

Juventus extended their lead atop Serie A to five points despite being held to a goalless draw by S.S. Lazio, on a night when Stephan El Shaarawy delivered the goods for AC Milan yet again.

The Bianconeri, who put six past Pescara in their last match, dominated in Turin. The Biancocelesti had Federico Marchetti to thank for their point – the goalkeeper made a string of fine saves, including a spectacular, twisting stop to deny Arturo Vidal. When Marchetti was eventually beaten, the crossbar denied Leonardo Bonucci.

SSC Napoli could have exploited Juventus' slip-up to move second, three points adrift of La Vecchia Signora, but surrendered a two-goal lead at home to Milan. Gokhan Inler opened the scoring inside five minutes with a swerving shot which deceived Christian Abbiati, a lead soon doubled by promising young forward Lorenzo Insigne.

El Shaarawy, however, reduced the Rossoneri's arrears with a curling shot on the cusp of half-time. The 'Little Pharaoh' then finished Robinho's through ball for his tenth league goal of the season, levelling the match with eight minutes remaining.
